UDHAMPUR:-A meeting of District Level Vigilance & Monitoring Committee was held today to review the implementation of   Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (POA) Act, 1989. The meeting was chaired by ADC Prem Singh and attended by District Social Welfare Officer Kanika Gupta and other government functionaries.

The committee discussed different provisions of the Act for protecting the rights of the SC/ST community. During the meeting, the Committee deliberated upon different cases of atrocity submitted before it and it was decided to release necessary financial compensation in favour of the victims as provided under various provisions /offences of the POA Act.

It was further impressed upon by the committee that a holistic approach shall be followed for welfare as well as for economic and social rehabilitation of victims of atrocities.
