REASI: District Development Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today convened a meeting to review the physical and financial progress achieved under the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain campaign for the year 2024-25.

The DDC emphasized the need for effective implementation, rigorous monitoring, and convergence with other schemes to maximize the impact of the water conservation initiative. Discussions centered on the rainwater harvesting and conservation measures, sustainability aspects, and the achievements made so far under the campaign.

To strengthen water conservation efforts, the DDC directed the Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD) to instruct Block Development Officers (BDOs) to identify five suitable sites in each Panchayat for rainwater harvesting and conservation initiatives. The meeting also discussed preparations for the Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2025.

The DDC instructed concerned officers to intensify awareness campaigns, conduct cleanliness drives, and encourage community participation through pledges. The Chief Education Officer (CEO) was directed to incorporate awareness programs in school morning assemblies to educate students about water conservation. Additionally, the DDC stressed the importance of proper documentation of all programs and activities conducted under the Abhiyan to ensure transparency and effectiveness.

DDC also held a virtual meeting with SDMs and BDOs to launch the Mega Jal Shakti Abhiyan 2025 on 22nd March, i.e., World Water Day. During the event, a 'Jal Shapath' will be taken in each Panchayat, along with water conservation activities, cleanliness drives, and water testing drives in public places and schools.

Additionally, DDC directed the ACD and XEN to prepare a detailed report on all the works undertaken in the last two years with proper Geo tagged photos under the Integrated Watershed Management Programme (IWMP)." DDC also held Discussions on water conservation plan under of District Reasi and directed officials that Water harvesting plan under Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain should be aligned with scientific Plan and standards of district Reasi.

Meeting was attended by ADDC Sukhdev Singh Samyal, ADC Rakesh Kumar, CPO Narinder Kumar, PO ICDS, ACD, ACR, DFO, CAO, CEO, XEN Jal Shakti, XEN MID and other concerned officials were present.
