KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, today chaired a meeting of concerned officers to review the progress under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of PMEGP scheme in fostering local entrepreneurship and creating sustainable employment opportunities for the unemployed educated youth of the district. Under the scheme, financial assistance is provided to the unemployed youth for setting up small-scale industries to boost their livelihood opportunities.
On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner directed the bank officers to ensure timely disbursal of cases under the PMEGP so that the unemployed youth are encouraged to take ventures under the scheme. She asked them to guide the beneficiaries about various bank formalities to be complied with to bridge the communication gap. They were also directed to provide details of the cases shown non-feasible in the portal so that these can be reviewed for feasibility.
Earlier, the chair was informed through a detailed presentation about the progress achieved under the scheme. General Manager DIC, CPO, besides, officers from concerned departments attended the meeting.
