MUMBAI: Senior BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Gulam Ali Khatana visited Anjuman-I-Islam, Maharashtra’s largest educational institution, and hailed its 150 years of service to education and nation-building. The visit came on the sidelines of the Parliamentary Committee’s ongoing engagements in Mumbai. Founded in 1874, Anjuman-I-Islam has grown into a vast educational network comprising 100 institutions, including primary and secondary schools, engineering, pharmacy, and architecture colleges. Today, it serves over 1.20 lakh students with the support of more than 3,500 teaching staff.

Khatana praised the institution as “a beacon of learning and service to society,” and said such establishments deserve “every possible support to expand their reach.” He lauded the leadership of Padma Shri Dr. Zahir Kazi (President, Anjuman-I-Islam) and Shri Mushtaq Antule (Chairman, Maulana Azad Minority Financial Development Corporation & Senior Vice President, Anjuman-I-Islam), describing their contribution as exemplary. He also expressed hope that MBBS and Dental colleges will soon be added to the institution’s profile.

Highlighting the institute’s legacy, he recalled its illustrious alumni, which include former Maharashtra Chief Minister Abdul Rahman Antulay, legendary actor Dilip Kumar, actor-academician Kader Khan, and noted cricketers Salim Durrani, Wasim Jaffer, and Yashasvi Jaiswal.  Khatana was welcomed by senior office bearers including Shri Moiz Miyajiwala (Vice President), Shri Aqeel Hafiz (General Secretary), Shri Shaukat Bedgiri (Executive Chairman, Anjuman Panchgani), and Shri Shaghaf Naqeeb (Chairman & Executive Officer). Also present on the occasion were Shri Mehmood Hakimi, Founder & National President of Positive Change Foundation, and Shri Faheem Ahmad Khan, National Vice President of the Foundation.
