JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson and former Vice-Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes & Backward Classes Development Corporation, Balbir Ram Rattan, has strongly condemned the recent act of vandalism in Manjri Park, Bani (Kathua district), where the statue of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was desecrated. He termed the incident not just a shameful act of disrespect, but a deliberate attempt by anti-national and divisive elements to disturb peace, unity, and social harmony in the region.
Balbir was talking to media persons at party headquarters, along with BJP Media Incharge Dr. Pardeep Mahotra and SC Morcha senior leader Hans Raj Loria. Balbir said that such act is not merely an attack on a statue but a direct assault on the spirit of the Indian Constitution and the values of equality, unity, and fraternity that Dr. Ambedkar envisioned for the nation.
Calling the incident a well-planned conspiracy, he said it appears to be the handiwork of those who wish to sow hatred and discord among communities for their vested interests. Demanding immediate arrest and stern action against the culprits, Balbir Ram Rattan urged the administration to identify and arrest the offenders without delay. He said that the government must ensure the harshest possible punishment to the guilty so that it becomes a strong deterrent against such anti-social activities.
He said that no one should be allowed to insult the legacy of Dr. Ambedkar, who dedicated his entire life to uplifting the marginalized and establishing India as a democratic, secular, and justice-oriented nation. Balbir Ram Rattan urged all communities to maintain calm, restraint, and brotherhood in this difficult time.
He said that Dr. Ambedkar’s teachings remind us that every citizen deserves equal rights, respect, and opportunity. We must uphold those values and defeat hatred with democracy and solidarity, he added. Balbir called upon citizens to internalize Dr. Ambedkar’s ideals of equality, justice, and fraternity, and to safeguard the dignity of the Constitution. He appealed all to keep the flame of unity and equality burning bright.
