KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Pankaj Kumar Sharma today interacted with the members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) from CD Blocks of Kishtwar, Palmar, Thakrie, Trigam, Mughalmaidan and Nagseni. A total of 3,021 SHGs comprising 21,133 members are presently active across 13 CD Blocks of District Kishtwar, contributing significantly to community development and women empowerment initiatives.

During the interaction, the Deputy Commissioner called for exploring the possibility of extending benefits of Mission YUVA schemes to SHG members. He advised SHG members to avail themselves the benefits of social security schemes offered by banks, which provide financial protection in case of accidents or natural death, thereby ensuring social and economic security for their families.

The DC appreciated the efforts of SHG members in promoting self-reliance and urged them to continue their active participation in development and empowerment programmes at the grassroots level. The meeting was attended by ADC Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal, CPO Kishtwar Akhil Thakur, Manager J&K Bank Cluster Office Kishtwar Anil Sharma, EO Kishtwar Vinod Kumar, DPM JKRLM Kishtwar Ishaq Dar, DNO JKEDI Aejaz Ahmad Bhat along with representatives of SHGs from the district.
