UDHAMPUR: A group of ten farmers from the temperate areas of Udhampur District was today flagged off by the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Udhampur, Saloni Rai for a five-day training-cum-exposure visit to the Central Institute of Temperate Horticulture (CITH) Srinagar. The training tour, being held from October 27 to 31, 2025 has been organized under the Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme.
During the tour, the farmers would be imparted training on the maintenance and management of high-density apple orchards. They would be trained in canopy management, pruning techniques, nutrient management, plant protection measures, nursery management basics and standard propagation techniques, among other aspects of apple orchard management.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC emphasized the importance of such exposure visits in enhancing farmers’ technical skills and adoption of advanced horticultural practices. She encouraged the participants to make the best use of this learning opportunity and to share their experiences with fellow farmers in their respective areas.
