UDHAMPUR: District Administration Udhampur, in collaboration with Anti-Corruption Bureau organized an awareness programme on the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility” as part of Vigilance awareness week 2025 here at Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Udhampur. The program began with a pledge-taking ceremony held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai.
The DC administered the Integrity Pledge to the officers and officials, who vowed to uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, accountability and fairness in their professional conduct. They also committed themselves to promoting good governance and ethical business practices.
The ADC and ACR acted as resource persons and elaborated on the importance of observing Vigilance awareness week. They emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to combat corruption and uphold moral values. They further underlined the need for participatory vigilance, stressing that public involvement plays a crucial role in ensuring transparency and fostering integrity in governance.
The event was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Jugal Kishore, PO Poshan Subash Dogra, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Prem Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr Umesh Shan, Chief Planning Officer Uttam Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Om Parkash and other officers from various line departments.
Earlier, Gurmeet Singh from the Anti-Corruption Bureau spoke about the serious consequences of corruption on society and the measures required to eradicate it. He briefed participants on the week-long awareness activities being held across the district and delivered an informative presentation on Revenue Laws and common procedural lapses.
These included manipulation of revenue records, delays in document issuance, delayed attestation of mutations, tampering with Girdawari or mutation registers and lapses in verification of records, signatures and thumb impressions. He also elaborated on the core functions of Revenue Officers, such as attestation of mutations, issuance of Fard Intikhab, conducting Girdawari and demarcation of land boundaries, urging officials to perform these duties with utmost integrity and vigilance.
The event also featured an interactive session, during which participants shared their insights and suggestions for strengthening vigilance mechanisms and fostering a corruption-free work environment.
