POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Ashok Kumar Sharma today convened a meeting to review and finalize the arrangements for the Gurupurab (Prakash Diwas of Guru Nanak Dev Ji) to be celebrated on November 05, 2025, preceded by the Nagar Kirtan (Procession) on November 02, 2025.
The meeting was attended by ADC Tahir Mustafa Malik; CMO Dr. Parvaiz Ahmed Khan; XEN JPDCL Aftab Ahmed; Tehsildar Haveli Azhar Majid; EO Municipality Khalil Ahmed Banday; DySP Headquarters Neeraj Sharma; ARTO, Basharat Mehmood; AD FCS&CA Adil Shabir; BDO Arshad Hussain; Incharge Fire and Emergency Services, members of civil society, prominent citizens and religious heads.
During the meeting, religious heads and members of civil society sought cooperation of the district administration for the smooth Gurupurab celebrations. Stress was laid on arrangements for adequate drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, sanitation, security, LPG availability, provision of medical facilities, traffic regulation, barricading at the college ground for martial art display, public address system and ambulance services during the Nagar Kirtan.
After detailed deliberations, the Deputy Commissioner directed the Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and Power Development Departments to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply to all Gurudwaras during the Prakash Diwas. The Municipal authorities were instructed to maintain cleanliness in and around major Gurudwaras and to carry out necessary repairs of street lights in the town.
The meeting was informed that comprehensive security and traffic management plans have been formulated to ensure smooth and hassle-free celebrations. The Chief Medical Officer was directed to ensure the availability of medical staff and ambulance service at the venue throughout the celebrations.
The DC urged the stakeholder departments to work in close coordination to make the Gurupurab celebrations successful and peaceful, reflecting the spirit of communal harmony and brotherhood.
