GANDERBAL, SOPORE: On the eve of the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Police organized a series of programmes in Ganderbal & Sopore to spread awareness about his invaluable contributions to national unity and integrity.
In Ganderbal, a program on the theme "Achievements of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Life" was organized at Boys High School Sonamarg, where students highlighted the great leader’s role in the unification of India. Besides, an Essay Competition was held at Public Higher Secondary School Watlar, encouraging students to reflect on Patel’s vision, leadership, and his enduring legacy in shaping modern India. In addition, an Awareness Program on Vigilance Week was organized at Syed Maqsood Model School Khurhama, focusing on the importance of integrity, transparency, and accountability in public life. Furthermore, a comprehensive Awareness Program on Nasha Mukht Abhiyan and Zero FIR/E-FIR was conducted at Qamariya Park, aimed at educating the youth and general public about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the significance of easy access to justice.
In Sopore, multiple awareness and outreach programs were held at the police station level with active participation from students, teachers, civil society members, and the general public. A seminar was held at SRM Welkin Higher Secondary School Sopore where students and speakers highlighted Sardar Patel’s contributions to national integration. Outstanding participants were felicitated with medals and certificates. A Cyber Crime Awareness Programme was organized at ITI Rohama (PS Panzalla), where students were educated about online safety, responsible digital behaviour, and preventive measures against cyber threats.
Cleanliness drives were carried out at Railway Station Amargarh (PS Tarzoo) and Mundaji Dangiwacha in collaboration with the Forest Department, local schools, and civil society, promoting the spirit of Swachhta and community service. A Public Meeting was also organized at Panchayat Ghar Zaloora (PS Bomai), where participants reflected on Sardar Patel’s life, his unifying vision, and his role in shaping modern India.
The initiatives were widely appreciated by students, teachers, and the general public, who lauded J&K Police for its proactive role in promoting awareness, civic responsibility, and national unity-truly upholding the legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
