JAMMU: Director Animal Husbandry Jammu and CEO, Livestock Development Board Dr. Sanjay Gupta today flagged-off a batch of fifty unemployed youth designated as MAITRIs (Multipurpose Artificial Insemination Technicians in Rural India) to attend a 90 day training course at the Artificial Insemination Training Institute Bathinda (Punjab).
The group drawn from different parts of Jammu District left for the training here from the Paravet Training Institute, Bari Brahmana, Samba organised under the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM).
While interacting with the trainees, the Director advised them to make full use of this opportunity and apply the knowledge gained during the training programme for the betterment of livestock farmers of their respective areas by providing them animal breeding and related services at their door-steps. He further extended best wishes to the trainees for successful completion of the training and encouraged them to serve as valuable assets to the livestock sector in Jammu division besides generating a sustainable income for themselves.
Senior officers from Para-vet Training Institute, Bari Brahmana, officers from Directorate of Animal Husbandry, Jammu besides officers and staff of Livestock Development Board, Jammu were also present on the occasion.
Additionally, the Director convened a review meeting at the Office of the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer to assess the functioning and progress of the Animal Husbandry Department in the Samba district. The meeting, attended by Veterinary Assistant Surgeons (VASs) of the district, reviewed the implementation status of the departmental schemes and programmes aimed at improving livestock productivity and farmersâ income.
Later, the Director also inspected ongoing NABARD funded projects in the district, including the upcoming District Veterinary Hospital. He inspected the quality and pace of work of these projects.
