AWANTIPORA & ANANTNAG: In continuation of its sustained efforts to promote cyber safety, digital literacy, and responsible online behaviour among youth, J&K Police conducted a series of Cyber Awareness Programmes at various educational institutions in Police District Awantipora and Anantnag.
The awareness sessions were organized at Higher Secondary School Satura, Alchemy Public School Tral, Government Higher Secondary School Gulzarpora, Evergreen High School Chersoo, and Government Degree College Larnoo. The programmes witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teaching staff, and faculty members.
During the sessions, police officers sensitized participants about the evolving cyber threat landscape and various forms of cybercrime, including online financial frauds, phishing attacks, identity theft, social media scams, cyberbullying, and other cyber-enabled offences. The speakers highlighted the modus operandi commonly employed by cybercriminals and emphasized the importance of adopting preventive measures to safeguard personal and financial information in the digital space.
Participants were advised to practice cyber hygiene by using strong and unique passwords, enabling security features on digital accounts, exercising caution while sharing personal information online, and promptly reporting suspicious online activities. Practical demonstrations and interactive discussions were conducted to enhance awareness regarding safe internet usage and digital responsibility.
The programmes received an encouraging response from the participants, who actively engaged in discussions and sought guidance on various cyber security concerns. Faculty members and students appreciated the initiative and underscored the importance of such awareness campaigns in equipping young internet users with the knowledge required to navigate the digital ecosystem safely.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to strengthening cyber resilience within the community through sustained outreach initiatives, awareness campaigns, and educational programmes aimed at fostering a secure and informed digital environment across the region.
