JAMMU: ASCCONE celebrated International Nurses Week on 9th and 10th of May 2024. The day is celebrated to honor & commemorate the contribution and achievement of Nurses around the world. It additionally marks the birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the pioneer of modern Nursing. The event was meticulously organized by the ASCOMS & Hospital College of Nursing with the range of activities aimed at honoring and celebrating the invaluable contribution of Nurses towards the health care.
Prof. (Dr.) Indra Moza Principal ASCCONE welcomed the Chief Guest Sh. D.K. Batra Ji Secretary ASCOMS & Hospital, Dr. Pavan Malhotra Director Principal, ASCOMS & Hospital, Guest of honor Dr. Goutam Mengi Joint Secretary ASCOMS & Hospital, Special Guest Dr. Sandeep Singh Registrar J&K Paramedical and Nursing Council Jammu, Chief Nursing officer Mr. Ramesh Pandita and Mrs. Anita Sidhu Chief Nursing Officer AOI.
In her welcome speech, she focused upon the theme, “OUR NURSES, OUR FUTURE”, ECONOMIC POWER OF CARE”. The theme aims to show that by investing in Nursing profession one can have significant economic and social benefits and to highlight the need to see Nursing as an investment, not as cost. Chief Guest Director Principal Dr. Pavan Malhotra during his speech emphasized the importance of hardwork , compassion & professionalism in Nurses. Stressing on the significance of academic excellence, Director Principal Dr. Pavan Malhotra urged the students to prioritize their education to be proficient professionals in the field of Nursing.
Further, he congratulated and appreciated the Principal ASCCONE, teaching faculty for uplifting the college towards the progression and through their undaunting efforts, the college of Nursing is considered among the best college in the J&K. The happening of such events foster a vibrant & supporting learning environment within the college of Nursing. Dr. Sandeep Singh Registrar J&K Paramedical and Nursing Council highlighted the significance of research in Nursing Education and encouraged the students to engage in research activities that shall further advance Nursing practices & enhance the patient care.
The Sports meet & cultural activities were performed by the students enthusiastically. They also participated in sports & cultural activities showing their skill & talent. These events not only provided the platform for creativity but also promoted holistic development and team work among the students. Students also performed the skit depicting the biography of Ms. Florence Nightingale. The Vice Principal of college of Nursing extended vote of thanks to everyone involved in making the Nursing day celebration a great success. The active involvement and support of college management remained instrumental in making this event memorable and impactful experience for everyone.
