SRINAGAR: A Kashmiri student, Umar Masoodi, has been selected for the prestigious Lucerne Academy Program in Switzerland. Masoodi, a law student at the University of Kashmir and the state spokesperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has been chosen for this program, which is set to commence on July 1, 2024, at the University of Lucerne.
He has been part of the Association (JKSA) for the past three years, serving the organization in various capacities and steadily rose through the ranks. The program offers an intensive curriculum featuring seven courses and various seminars led by distinguished professors and practitioners. Notably, he is the only student selected from India for this program.
Masoodi eagerly anticipates gaining in-depth knowledge about human rights law, acquiring practical skills through interactions with experts, and experiencing unique opportunities to visit key institutions in Geneva and Strasbourg, including the European Court of Human Rights and the UN headquarters. Known for its high standards of education and dedication to human rights, the Lucerne Academy presents an unparalleled opportunity for Masoodi to gain a comprehensive understanding of international human rights law.
The program’s focus on "Business and Human Rights" aligns perfectly with Masoodi’s academic interests and career aspirations. The unique location between Geneva and Strasbourg, combined with its international faculty, will provide him with exposure to best practices in human rights implementation. This globally unique and varied human rights law program is based in the heart of Europe at the University of Lucerne, Faculty of Law, Switzerland.
The J&K Students Association has congratulated Umar Masoodi on his selection for this prestigious program, highlighting it as a moment of pride and honor. His journey serves as a source of inspiration for all those who dream of a better future. Masoodi has not only brought laurels to his family but also to his alma mater. The association hopes that the student fraternity will follow the path of this meritorious individual.
The association said, "Kashmiri students are proving their mettle and shining in every field. Masoodi's achievement will inspire the students of J&K to aim for the top institutions and programs of the world. We are delighted to learn that he has been selected for this prestigious program. It is a great achievement for a young student, and we congratulate him for achieving such a stupendous and incredible feat."His selection for the Lucerne Academy Program is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and passion for human rights law. "We are confident that he will make the most of this opportunity and continue to inspire others with his achievements," it emphasized.
