HAJIN: The General Council of Kashmiri's oldest literary organization Halqua e Adab Sonawari (HAS) met at MD Hajini Meroial School in Hajin. About fifty members of Halqua e Adab Sonawari attended the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, Shabbir Maqbool recited verses of the Holy Quran and Maulvi Riaz Hakbari presented Naat Rasool Maqbool (SAW). At the meeting, Dr. Riyaz-ul-Hassan outlined the programs for the new year, which were approved by the members.

An essay writing competition for school students will be organized in this year's programs. While programs will be organized under the "Katha Batha" series with many senior writers and members of the Halqa. This year, the Day of the Ancestors will be organized in the month of September. On this occasion, Khilat e Hajni, Khilat e Aziz Hajini and Aziz Hajini Gold Medal will be awarded. It was unanimously decided that a special event will be organized in the memory of famous writer from Hajin Ghulam Hassan Taskeen in October. After this, Farooq Hajini presented the budget on behalf of the Secretary Finance.

A critical forum was also held at the end of the meeting. In this forum, Farooq Ateeb presented a ghazal while Farooq Prangi presented a naat. The participants had a lively discussion on both these works of art. Sheikh Ghulam Muhammad, Vice President of the HAS, thanked the guests. Dr. Riyaz ul Hassan conducted proceedings of the event.
