SRINAGAR: As part of continuous monitoring of various projects being carried out under Smart City Mission in Srinagar City for their timely completion, the CEO SSCL, Dr.Owais Ahmed today visited Jehangir Chowk Junction improvement, Souq Market and Craft center at Batmaloo to review the works being executed under the highly privileged project.
Impressing upon the concerned officials to expedite the work on projects on war footing basis, CEO directed the officials that the projects being executed in the city should be completed on war footing basis. Dr.Owais also expressed gratitude to traders and the general public for their full support and cooperation. The CEO was accompanied by GM (UD), Executive Engineer SSCL, Officers from SMC, SSCL and line departments.
SRINAGAR: In the midst of the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, IGP Kashmir, Shri V.K Birdi, convened a crucial coordination and security meeting at Nunwan Base Camp. The Meeting was attended by a range of stakeholders, including Police officers, Army, CAPF forces, NDRF, SDRF, MRT, Base camp directors, Security, Traffic and intelligence agencies.
The IGP directed all Security agencies to work in close coordination to ensure a safe and secure Amarnath Yatra. Emphasizing the importance of collective effort and coordination, he stressed the need to prevent any potential threats and ensure the safety of Pilgrims. Shri Birdi also sought details about frisking and X-ray scanning equipment, highlighting the necessity of thorough checks.
During the meeting, security forces and intelligence agencies shared their views and ideas. The IGP instructed District Police officers to design strategies based on these inputs. He also requested updates from Panjtarni, Sheshnag, and Chandwari base camps.
The meeting was also attended by Yatra Officer, Shri Sujit Kumar ; DIG SKR, Shri Javid Ahmad Matoo ; SSP Anantnag, Dr. G V Sundeep Chakravarthy; as well as officers from CAPF, Security, Traffic, and the Army. The review meeting underscored the commitment of all stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of the Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims.
JAMMU The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu organized a one-day Hindi Workshop at the Aryabhatta Classroom on 10th July 2024. The Chief Guest for the event was Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri, Director Rajbhasha, Ministry of Education, Government of India. He was accompanied by Shri Kishore Kumar, Senior Translation Officer, Hindi Rajbhasha, Ministry of Education, Government of India. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Present on the occasion were Prof. Jabir Ali, Dean Academics, IIM Jammu; Dr. Anuja Akhouri, Co-Chairperson, Hindi Rajbhasha; Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, Chief Administrative Officer; along with faculty, officers, staff members, and students of the Institute. The event commenced with a welcome address by Shri Abhay Kumar Awasthi, Hindi Rajbhasha Committee, IIM Jammu, followed by the symbolic lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.
Dr. Anuja Akhouri welcomed everyone and gave a brief introduction about the illustrious journey of Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri, highlighting his instrumental role in creating awareness about Hindi Rajbhasha and its usage. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu felicitated Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri with a memento and shawl. Shri Kishore Kumar was felicitated by Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran.
In his address, Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu emphasized the importance of Hindi as our Rajbhasha and detailed IIM Jammu’s efforts to ensure all official orders, including appointments, are bilingual. He noted that IIM Jammu is committed to official language implementation and stressed the need for further progress. He acknowledged the consistent efforts of the Government of India in promoting Hindi and expressed gratitude for Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri’s support. He reiterated IIM Jammu's commitment to Hindi Rajbhasha as per government guidelines and highlighted the role of films and programs like Tamil Sangam and Ek Bharat Shreshta Bharat in spreading Hindi. He urged everyone to incorporate one Hindi word daily into their vocabulary to foster the language in daily life.
Shri Jagdish Ram Pauri welcomed everyone and stressed the importance of communicating in one's mother tongue to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat and becoming Vishwaguru, as envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He highlighted the government's steps to promote Hindi while recognizing the diversity of languages in India. He mentioned that on September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in Devanagari script as the official language of India. He appreciated the efforts of the Rajbhasha Committee at IIM Jammu and encouraged them to continue fostering the use of Hindi across the institution. His address included quotes from illustrious poets and authors, making it truly enlightening.
The Chief Guest was also taken for a campus tour of the state-of-the-art facilities at IIM Jammu. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Rambalak Yadav, Member, Rajbhasha Committee, IIM Jammu. The workshop featured an interactive session where various suggestions for improving Hindi Rajbhasha at IIM Jammu were discussed. The workshop concluded on a positive note.
UDHAMPUR: As per the directions of Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai under the supervision of District Social Welfare Officer Udhampur, Kanika Gupta, One Stop Centre for Women Udhampur organised an awareness Program on "Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 including awareness on 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao', Female Foeticide, Family Disputes, Domestic Violence, Inheritence Rights and Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act 2013, at DPO Conference Hall DPO (Poshan) office Udhampur.
In this program, Adv. Akhil Dubey was the Resource person who awared the women present there regarding these acts and their objectives for the benefit of women. He held an interactive session with the audience regarding these acts. He also explained about the New Criminal Laws - Bhartiya Nagrik Sahayta Sanhita, Bharitya Sakshya Sanhita and Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita in which sections regarding women rights are mentioned.
Different departments like Mission Vatsalya, Sanginis from mission Poshan, Sankalp HEW, UMEED, Special Women Cell joined the program. Thereafter, Central Administrator, One stop centre for Women Udhampur, Meena Kumari Thakur also expressed her views on the topic. She underlined various services offered by OSC and also told about how it helps the Aggrieved Women who suffer from such offences.
More than 50 participants took benefit of the program with a vow that they will pass on information to the grass root level. Later refreshment was also distributed to the participants.
JAMMU: Chief Justice, High Court of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and Patron-in-Chief, J&K Legal Services Authority, Justice N. Kotiswar Singh today inaugurated Legal Aid Clinic at the MIET School of Law here.
The Chief Justice was accompanied by Justice Tashi Rabstan and Justice Atul Shreedharan, Judges of the High Court of J&K and Ladakh, and Executive Chairmen, J&K Legal Services Authority and Ladakh Legal Services Authority respectively.
On their arrival, the Chief Justice and other dignitaries were received by Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu, Sanjay Parihar; Member Secretary, J&K Legal Services Authority, Amit Gupta; Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director MIET, Ruchika Gupta, Joint Director, Prof. Sunita Koul, Dean, MIET School of Law and Prof. Sahil Sawhney, GM Strategic Initiatives.
The inauguration of Legal Aid Clinic was followed by an impactful awareness program for law students on the topic “Access to Justice through Legal Services and the Role of Law Students” organized by the J&K Legal Services Authority, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, Jammu and MIET, School of Law, Jammu.
According to Chief Justice, legal aid clinic is a significant initiative at the MIET School of Law which aims to enhance access to justice for the underprivileged and provide practical legal experience to law students besides enhancing their legal acumen while serving the needs of underprivileged sections of the society.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Justice highlighted the critical role of legal aid in ensuring justice for marginalized communities. He emphasized the importance of legal services authorities in bridging the gap between the law and the people.
The Chief Justice emphasized the need for every student of law to remember the preamble of our Constitution, which defines our core values as a nation. He lauded the MIET School of Law for provisioning high quality infrastructure for the Legal Aid Clinic and promised full support of the J&K Legal Services Authority in ensuring that the Legal Aid Clinic meets its stated objectives to reach out and help those entitled to free legal aid.
He also highlighted the challenges confronting the legal system in our country and outlined the initiatives that the students at MIET School of Law can undertake to play a constructive role in transforming the legal system while alleviating the sufferings of the poor.
Justice Tashi Rabstan, in his special address, underscored the need to raise awareness about legal rights and the availability of legal services. He also spoke about the unique challenges faced by law students in today’s dynamic legal environment and encouraged them to contribute actively to the legal aid movement.
In his welcome address, Prof. Ankur Gupta, Director, MIET, School of Law, Jammu, extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guest and the Guests of Honour. He expressed his gratitude for selecting MIET, School of Law, for establishing a legal aid clinic and emphasized the significance of conducting such awareness programs, which play a crucial role in raising awareness and steering students towards positive societal change.
Asmi Abrol, a law student, delivered a valuable presentation depicting the importance of legal services and the proactive role, law students can play in ensuring access to justice for all.
The programme was attended by M. K. Sharma, Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, Rajinder Sapru, Registrar Rules, Sandeep Kour, Registrar Judicial, Jammu, Prem Sagar, Secretary, High Court Legal Services Committee, Rajni Sharma, Joint Registrar Judicial, Jammu, Anil Sharma Chief LADC along with his team, Advocates, staff and PLVs of J&K Legal Services Authority.
The event also witnessed enthusiastic participation from around 240 law students, faculty members, and administrative staff of MIET, School of Law, Jammu.
