UDHAMPUR: The 10th District Level Handball Championship kicked off today at Mini Stadium Udhampur. The event was organised by the Players Association Handball Udhampur in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Handball Association wherein Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai, was the chief guest at the opening ceremony, while District Information Officer Rajinder Digra was the guest of honour.

The championship saw enthusiastic participation from 13 teams, including both men and women from across the district. The Deputy Commissioner commended the organisers for their efforts in promoting sports in the district and providing a platform to young players to showcase their talent. She highlighted the vital role of sports in instilling discipline, teamwork and promoting a healthy lifestyle among the youth.

The programme was attended by President HandBall Association Udhampur Vikram Slathia, General Secretary, Suresh Khajuria and representatives of various clubs. Later, the DC administered the Nasha Mukti pledge to the participants and attendees, emphasising the district administration's dedication to combating drug abuse. She urged the youth to avoid drugs and actively participate in sports and other positive activities to help build a brighter future for themselves and the community.
