KATRA: Government Degree College Katra organised a two-day programme to mark Hindi Day. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Lalita Devi, Department of Hindi and Prof. Usha Sharma, NSS Programme Officer, under the guidance and support of Principal, Dr. Rajni Bhagat.
The programme featured poetry recitation and speech competitions, in which students participated enthusiastically. The programme commenced with a poetry recitation session, where students expressed their love, respect and affection for the Hindi language through their poems. The students highlighted various aspects of Hindi including its present status, significance, progress and utility.
In the Poetry Recitation Competition, Sonali secured the first position, Sonia stood second, while Shipali secured the third position. In the Speech Competition, Chinta Devi bagged the first position, Khushi Goswami secured the second position and Riya stood third. The winners were felicitated with certificates. Prof. Mohammad Yunus Salim, Prof. Shikha Bhasin and Prof. Ajay Kumar evaluated the participants on the basis of their performance, expression and talent.
The programme concluded with an inspiring and eloquent speech delivered by Prof. Mohammad Yunus Salim, who appreciated the enthusiastic participation of the students and emphasised the importance of promoting and preserving the Hindi language. Prof. Sajjad Iqbal, Prof. Nasir, Dr. Shiraz Ahmad Sufi, Dr. Zulfiqar Ashraf Bani, Bhushan Kumar, Dr. Manzoor Ahmad Bage, besides other faculty members were also present.
