BUDGAM: Under the aegis of ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan’, Department of Social Welfare Budgam organized a series of awareness programmes on drug abuse at various educational institutions to aware students about drug abuse and to save the society from drug menace. About hundreds of students and staff members participated in the awareness programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, speakers threw light about the menace of drugs, its sources, causes, consequences and role of every member of the society for its total eradication. The participating students were briefed to remain away from drugs and involve themselves in sports activities as it is one of the preventive measures to save themselves from drug abuse.
Participants reiterated to fight against the menace of drugs and were also stressed to share the information related to illicit drug supply in their respective areas, so that appropriate action under law is taken against the drug peddlers/traffickers. Moreover, the students were briefed to share information with their peer groups for more awareness in the society.
At last the volunteers were provided with theme-based badges and jerseys to actively participate in the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, promoting a drug-free society with a sense of unity and responsibility.
