SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) on Thursday expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, and officials at the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) for their swift and compassionate intervention in ensuring the dignified recovery and repatriation of Kashmiri workers who lost their lives in the tragic Kullu landslide.National Convenor of Association, Nasir Khuehami, said that soon after the Association raised concerns regarding the landslide, in which seven Kashmiri workers were buried and killed, and later about the undignified transport of their bodies in load carriers, the Chief Minister immediately intervened.

On his directions, the mortal remains were airlifted instead, thereby upholding the dignity of the deceased and providing solace to the grieving families.Khuehami further said that the Himachal Pradesh Government bore the entire cost of airlifting the mortal remains from Chandigarh, while the Jammu and Kashmir Government arranged ambulances from Srinagar Airport to the respective hometowns of the victims for the last rites. This seamless coordination between the two governments ensured that the families received their loved ones with dignity and compassion. He added that all workers’ mortal remains have already been laid to rest in Kashmir.

The Association noted that this dignified recovery and repatriation was possible only due to the combined efforts and coordination of the Himachal Pradesh CM, CS, and CMO, supported by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his advisor Nasir Sogami.Khuehami added that “the prompt response of J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has always been reassuring in such times of grief.
