SHOPIAN: In a major public health initiative aimed at ensuring safe drinking water for the residents of Shopian, the District Administration under the guidance of the DDC Shopian today conducted massive sanitation drives across water supply reservoirs and sources in the district. The initiative comes in the wake of concerns over the spread of waterborne diseases, particularly Hepatitis A and E, and is part of a larger effort to protect public health.
The cleanliness drives, conducted today by the Jal Shakti Department, saw active participation from its staff and was closely monitored by the respective Tehsildars and officers of the department.
The operations were carried out at water sources and filtration plants. As part of the drive, thorough chlorination and desiltation of all water sources was carried out to eliminate contamination and maintain water quality standards. Meanwhile, the public is advised to remain vigilant and consume boiled water and report any issues related to water quality to the authorities .
