SRINAGAR: While expressing profound grief and shock over the demise of senior National Conference leader Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA elect Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin Tuesday described the deceased as a pioneering leader who stood for high values in politics and public life. While paying glowing tributes to, Sheikh Nazir, who died early Tuesday morning at a hospital in Jammu, Hakim Yasin said, “In his death, Jammu and Kashmir has lost a great and visionary leader, who left no stone unturned to ameliorate the lot of the poor masses. His demise is a personal loss to me.”
“His role in Kashmir politics and Kashmir movement can never be forgotten. His uncompromising stand on issues always won him admirers. For late Sheikh Nazir sahib interests of common Kashmiris were always supreme,” he added. While recalling the contribution of the departed leader towards the uplift of the people and development of the State, he said, “This is an irreparable loss to the State and to the family in particular. May the Almighty Allah grant eternal peace to the departed soul.”
