UDHAMPUR: Juhi Manas Pathania, Vice Chairperson District Development Council Udhampur, kick-started work on the Gadena to Kutt road here today. The crucial 11 kilometer road project, funded by National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), is estimated to cost nearly Rs 6.70 crore. The new road, being executed by the Department of Public Works (PWD), is set to become a lifeline for approximately two to three thousand residents, addressing longstanding issues of poor road connectivity to the main road.
Over the years the local population has faced multiple challenges due to inadequate road infrastructure, making this development a focal point of community aspirations. The residents expressed their deep gratitude to Mrs. Pathania for her tireless efforts for including this project in the NABARD-sanctioned road list.
Speaking at the event, Mrs. Pathania highlighted the vital role of roads as indicators of development. “Roads are the arteries of a nation. Their presence is the most visible indicator of our progress and development,” she stated. She also reiterated her commitment to initiating work on other important roads, including Banu to Belaspur, Dhar Road to Sortha, Dhar Road to Dingle, Panchayat Ghar Sundla, and Nardi to Khoon.
She assured the public that these projects would commence in the near future. Addressing additional concerns of the local residents, Mrs. Pathania issued on-the-spot instructions to various officers to resolve issues related to the uninterrupted supply of drinking water, unscheduled power cuts, and blocked irrigation channels. She further called for qualitative and time bound completion of the work.
She also called for fullest care and sensitivity towards homes and lands of affected people. Her proactive approach aimed at immediate grievance redressal was well-received by the community.
