POONCH: Central Bureau of Communication, Field Office Poonch, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India (J&K, Ladakh) organized an awareness programme on 'Swachhta Action Plan' (SAP) at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Chandak, Block Nangali Sahab Sai Baba of district Poonch (J&K). The programme was held under the chairmanship of the Principal of the host institute.
The programme aimed at the participation of citizens in adopting the cleanliness habits. All the participants may dispose of garbage in a proper and sensitive manner. They may understand the need and urgency of clean and green India, ‘Say No’ to single use plastic and planting saplings under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign and look after the growth of saplings.
While speaking on the occasion Principal Amil Hussain appreciated the efforts of Government of India and Central Bureau of Communication for organizing the awareness programme at the far flung & hilly area of Chandak. He reminded the students about their responsibility towards a clean and healthy Nation. He quoted the example of Mahatma Gandhi and Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding dedication for a clean and green India. He urged the students to spend one hour on cleanliness every week and save trees.
Naseer Choudhary Naib Tehsildar Chandak also addressed the students regarding aims and objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). He also enlightened the students about sensible and responsible disposing of waste. He spoke about segregation of waste and the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle mantra for waste management.
Himani Manhas, Panchayat Secretary, RDD & Panchayti Raj, Chandak-B also addressed the gathering and enlightened them about achievements of RDD in Chandak area. She informed that Segregation Sheds, composite pits and soak pits are made in panchayats. She mentioned a plastic waste management unit at Chandak built by RDD. Each panchayat has a special segregation shed and swachh grahi to collect, treat and dispose off solid waste, she added.
Vijay Mattoo I/c CBC Poonch in his address enlightened the gathering about working and organization of Central Bureau of Communication, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India. He delivered a lecture regarding Swachhata saying that the activities like shramdaan, distribution of Jute Bags & dustbins and seminars are aimed at preparing the young minds to contribute in making India clean and green. Such programmes are being organized by CBC in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions.
During the programme at GHSS Chandak 'Swachhta Pledge’ was administered in which Principal, Staff members, locals and students participated. A shramdaan activity (Cleanliness drive) was also organized in the school premises to motivate the students for 'Swachh Vidhalay' (Clean School). Students, Teachers and local participated in the Shramdaan activity.
PRT of CBC J&K presented a theme based dance songs and skit to make the audience rethink their daily routines which pollute surroundings. Students also expressed their views about Swachhata through speech. Dustbins, brooms, Masks, Gloves, sanitizers and Jute Bags were donated to the school by CBC, Poonch, J&K. All the participants were honoured by CBC.
