RAMBAN: As part of its continued efforts towards youth empowerment and promotion of sports, the Indian Army organized a Girls Badminton Competition at Girls Higher Secondary School, Banihal. A total of 20 girls participated in the event, representing various schools from Banihal and adjoining areas. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation and displayed a high level of sportsmanship and skill.

In a keenly contested final match, Ms. Ulfat Jan from Girls Higher Secondary School, Banihal, emerged as the winner, while Ms. Madiha Mushtaq from Girls High School, Tethar secured the runner-up position.

The event aimed to encourage young girls to actively participate in sports and develop qualities of self-confidence, teamwork, discipline and physical fitness. It forms part of the Indian Army’s ongoing outreach initiatives designed to strengthen the bond with the local population and to promote education, sportsmanship and women empowerment in the region.

The winners and runners-up will be felicitated with trophies, medals and certificates at the closing ceremony. The initiative received wide appreciation from school authorities, parents and residents, who commended the Indian Army for its positive contribution towards nurturing youth talent and promoting a culture of healthy competition.
