RAMBAN: Sankalp–Hub for Empowerment of Women, Mission Shakti under the Department of Social Welfare today celebrated International Girl Child Day with great zeal and enthusiasm at Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Banihal.
The event was aimed at spreading awareness about the rights, education and empowerment of the girl child in line with the vision of the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign.
As part of the celebration, baby kits were distributed among new born baby girls belonging to the weaker sections of society, symbolizing care and support for their health and well-being.
Speaking on the occasion, officials highlighted the importance of gender equality and the need to create an enabling environment where every girl child can grow, learn and lead a dignified life.
The event witnessed active participation from the District Mission Coordinator, staff members of Mission Shakti Ramban and officials from the Social Welfare Department, who interacted with the beneficiaries and encouraged parents to support their daughters’ education and aspirations.
