DODA: The International Girl Child Day was celebrated with great zeal and enthusiasm here at Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GHSS) under the guidance of the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO). The event was organized by the Sankalp Hub for Empowerment of Women (SHEW), Social Welfare Department Doda as part of the ongoing Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) campaign, which aims to promote gender equality and empower girls through education and awareness.

The celebration highlighted the vital role of girls in shaping a progressive and inclusive society. Numerous activities, including painting and debate competitions, were held where students showcased their creativity and shared inspiring thoughts on girl child empowerment, equal rights and education. The competitions encouraged participants to reflect on challenges faced by girls and propose innovative solutions to achieve gender equity.

Adding vibrancy to the event, students presented a captivating cultural programme, featuring dancing and songs that celebrated the spirit of confidence, courage and empowerment. The performances spread a strong message of breaking stereotypes and promoting opportunities for girls in every field of life. The event also featured motivational speeches from teachers and officials, emphasizing the need for community support in nurturing the potential of every girl child.

The program concluded with an inspiring address from the DSWO Doda, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers and participants. The DSWO highlighted the continued commitment of the Social Welfare Department and SHEW in collaboration with One Stop Centre – Sakhi and Women Helpline 181, towards building a safer, inclusive and empowered environment for women and girls in the district. The celebration served as a reminder that empowering girls today leads to a stronger and more equitable nation tomorrow.
