JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid rich tributes to the legendary nationalist and visionary social reformer Nanaji Deshmukh on his birth anniversary at the party headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.
The tribute programme was led by J&K BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul, who was accompanied by Vice-President Rekha Mahajan, General Secretary Baldev Singh Billawaria, former MLC S. Charanjit Singh Khalsa, Secretary Pawan Sharma, SC Morcha President Dharminder Kumar, Kisan Morcha President Rakesh Pant, Spokesperson Balbir Ram Rattan, Incharge Nanaji Deshmukh Library & e-Library Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, S. Varinderjit Singh, Parduman Singh, Ajay Vaid, Ramesh Katoch, Lovisha Gupta, Umesh Kumar Gabbar, Ravinder Singh Birpuria, and several other senior party leaders and activists.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Koul described Nanaji Deshmukh as an institution in himself, a guiding force who redefined the ethics of public life and political commitment. He said that Nanaji’s life was an extraordinary blend of selfless service, intellectual depth, and visionary action. He said that Nanaji Deshmukh was a nation-builder who dedicated every breath of his life to the cause of India’s cultural resurgence, rural upliftment, and social harmony.
Ashok Koul emphasized Nanaji’s pioneering work in education, healthcare, and rural self-reliance, especially through the model of self-sustaining villages. He urged the party cadre to study Nanaji’s life and propagate his values of nationalism, simplicity, and service before self, so that the coming generations remain connected to India’s civilizational ethos.
“Nanaji Deshmukh’s association with the RSS from a young age and his active participation in the JP Movement and Bhoodan Movement reflected his lifelong dedication to strengthening India’s social fabric,” he said.
The programme was organized by Prof. Kulbhushan Mohtra, who presented a brief note on Nanaji’s life and contributions. He said that Nanaji’s thoughts on various social and economic issues remain relevant even today. He said that the lives of great personalities like Nanaji Deshmukh inspire us to overcome challenges with courage and commitment and to devote ourselves to the service of the nation.
