• DC hails Scheme’s integrated approach to enhance productivity, rural prosperity

KATHUA: A live webcast of the launch of Pradhan Mantri Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) was today organized by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kathua to disseminate the key objectives of the newly launched flagship programme aimed at promoting sustainable agriculture, enhancing farmers’ income and ensuring food and nutritional security.

Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma presided over the programme as the Chief Guest in presence of Chief Scientist & Head KVK Dr. Vishal Mahajan; Chief Agriculture Officer Jatinder Khajuria and Chief Horticulture Officer Ashwani Khajuria. The programme witnessed participation of more than 150 farmers, farm women, members of cooperatives and FPOs, who actively interacted with experts and raised queries which were suitably addressed by the scientists of KVK Kathua.

 In his address, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma highlighted the significance of the newly launched scheme in transforming the agriculture landscape through convergence of different developmental initiatives. He lauded KVK Kathua and Agriculture Department for creating awareness among farmers about Government schemes including Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP) and JKCIP.

The DC emphasized that the initiatives envisaged in PM-DDKY would act as a multiplier in improving productivity, diversification and income generation in the agriculture and allied sectors.

Earlier, Chief Scientist & Head KVK Kathua Dr. Vishal Mahajan welcomed the guests and participants. He gave a brief on the objectives of PM-DDKY. He reiterated KVK Kathua’s commitment to serve as a platform for capacity building, knowledge dissemination and farmer empowerment through need-based training and demonstration programmes.

The live webcast featured the address of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who elaborated on the Government’s vision of making Indian agriculture more sustainable, technology-driven and self-reliant.

 Speaking on the occasion, Chief Agriculture Officer, Jatinder Khajuria stressed upon scientific interventions, skill development and adoption of modern farm techniques to enhance productivity and profitability.

Chief Horticulture Officer Ashwani Khajuria highlighted the immense potential of horticulture under PM-DDKY, encouraging farmers to diversify towards high-value and protected cultivation crops.

The proceedings of the event were coordinated by Chief Scientist (P.P) Dr. Anamika Jamwal, with active support from Dr. Ajay Kumar, Neeraj Singh, Amit Kumar, Sushant Sharma, Raj Kumar and Rishav Sharma.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Chief Scientist (A.E) Dr. Berjesh Ajrawat, who expressed gratitude to the participants and assured continued support in strengthening the agricultural ecosystem of Kathua district.
