KATHUA: A meeting with local traders and business representatives was held today in the Conference Hall of the DC Office Complex to discuss the effective implementation of the reduced GST rates rolled out by the Central Government and brought into effect from September 22, 2025.

The meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Surinder Mohan Sharma and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Vishavjeet Singh, officers from the State Taxes Department and representatives of Traders and Business Associations.

The ADDC directed the traders to align their billing and pricing systems in accordance with the revised GST structure for both existing stocks and the goods procured on or after September 22, 2025 so that benefits of the same percolate down to consumers.

Addressing the concerns raised by the traders regarding the difference in GST rates between earlier purchases and the new reduced rates, the ADDC informed that the Government has laid down provisions for compensation and adjustment through the GST return mechanism. He urged traders to ensure timely and accurate filing of their GST returns to avail the benefit.

The State Taxes Department officials provided clarifications on procedural aspects related to the rate adjustments and assured all possible assistance to facilitate smooth implementation of the new tax regime.
