SHOPIAN: District Development Commissioner, Shopian, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, today visited snow affected areas of the district and took stock of snow clearance work on roads besides reviewing restoration of public utilities. The DDC assessed availability of essential commodities and was informed that there is sufficient stock available in the district. During the meeting, it was apprised that all the major roads have been cleared and the district is connected with Srinagar and other districts. The administration has established 24x7 control room at district headquarter with telephone numbers 01933-260987, 01933-260979 and 9596028060, 97978047 and 9419024047 to address the problems of public.
The meeting was informed that the health institutions have been equipped with sufficient life saving drugs besides ambulances have been kept at the disposal of the Medical Offices in District and other Hospitals. The DC asked all the Officers and Officials of various departments to remain available at their respective offices to attend to the people’s needs and grievances. He advised the people residing in higher reaches to restrict their movement and take precautions while moving near avalanche prone areas.
