SRINAGAR: In view of court orders regarding removal of encroachments on the banks of rivers and other water bodies in the Valley, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Rohit Kansal convened a high level meeting of officers here today. He asked the concerned authorities to implement the high court order in letter and spirit and without further delay to ensure widening of the water bodies and to avert loss of life and property due to any floods eventuality.
The Divisional Commissioner asked the concerned officers to ensure removal of encroachments on river banks within a month. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioners Pulwama, Bandipora, Chief Engineers of Electric Maintenance & Rural Electrification Kashmir, Irrigation & Flood Control, R&B Kashmir, Economic Reconstruction Agency, Deputy Director Information & Public Relations and senior Police Officers. The Divisional Commissioner asked the Chief Engineer R&B to take up the repair and renovation work on National Highway from Anantnag to Srinagar to ensure smooth flow of traffic immediately.
SRINAGAR: According to a communication received from Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, a medium danger avalanche warning exists for next 24 hours from March 05 to March 06, 2015. In snow bound areas in Chowkibal, Tangdhar, Taya, Ragini, Naugaon, Kaiyan, Radha, TMG, Padam, Zebra in view of this weather warning, the Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag, Bandipora, Baramulla, Kupwara and Kargil are asked to advise people not to venture in avalanche prone areas during the said period. The people are advised not to occupy and temporarily evacuate those locations which are under fall line of avalanches during heavy snowfall. The concerned Deputy Commissioners are also asked to take all precautionary measures to avert any untoward incident.
