JAMMU: While commenting on the Address to joint session of the Parliament by President Pranab Mukherjee in which he laid emphasis on the rehabilitation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits Awami Ittihaad Party President and MLA Langate Engineer Rashid termed the same address as an epitome of disappointment as it lacked realistic tone.
Engineer Rashid stated – “ Only thing that featured in Presidents address to joint Parliamentary sitting was the issues of Kashmiri pundits while as the sea of suffering suffered by majority community of the Kashmir valley over the last so many decades in form of human rights abuses, under-development and unaddressed political aspirations figured nowhere in the speech much to the disappointment of sane voices. It is quite clear that Kashmiri Muslims are not against the rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits but Government of India needs to come clear how to address political aspirations of Kashmir after so much destruction suffered by people of Kashmir.”
Engineer Rashid reminded President of India as to why he did not utter a single word over Kunanposhpora Mass rape and providing justice to victims."Are Pandits more Sufferers than victims of Kunanposhpora," : Engineer Rashid Reminded President.
Egineer Rashid added – “The observations made in the stated address on the rehabilitation of flood affected people of Kashmir do not match the ground realities as people continue to suffer and any relief that could have come their way in form of international aid has been badly scuttled. President Address matches the escapist approach adopted by Government of India with reference to solving Kashmir issue. ”
