- Says interaction between academia and live world pivotal for sound public administration relations
SRINAGAR: To boost and rejuvenate the skills of media persons, a 7-day Refresher-cum-Training Course was today inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Rohit Kansal at Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC), Kashmir University. Dean Academic Affairs, Kashmir University, Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Wani, Director EMMRC, Dr. Shahid Rasool and Joint Director Information Kashmir, Mr. Shafqat Iqbal and other staff members of EMMRC were present on the inaugural function.
The Refresher-cum-Training course has been organized by Department of Information and Public Relations with the support of EMMRC, University of Kashmir in which the necessary training in cohesion with modern technological trends shall be imparted to the Information Officers and Camera persons of Information Department besides media journalists. The course is aimed at to sharpen the journalism approach and skills among the participants so that they deliver their best talent in approaching to the masses by highlighting the developmental and welfare programmes of Government.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Rohit Kansal highlighted the role of media in present world and said that public enlightenment is the prototype of justice and the foundation of democracy. He said the duty of the journalists is to bring the facts and burning issues before the public by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. He said conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility, he added.
Dean Academic Affairs, Kashmir University, Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Wani, also highlighted the role of media in disseminating the timely and accurate information to the people for their up-to-date Knowledge. Director EMMRC, Dr. Shahid Rasool, in his welcome address, highlighted the role of EMMRC and urged for Interaction between academia and live world by involving Government organizations in the academia. He said such training courses create synergy between academic and journalists to yield the better public relations. He also emphasized for adaptation of modern technology in the journalism to keep the people updated with timely information.
Joint Director Information, Mr. Shafqat Iqbal said that Information Department represents the State and has great responsibility high credibility in the news updating. He said media plays major role in the democratic set up and the media persons should play their responsibility for formation of healthy and up to date society by carrying developmental, flagship programmes and awareness news items among the people in real time maintaining, truth and accuracy.
