- Says interaction between academia and live world pivotal for sound public administration relations
SRINAGAR: To boost and rejuvenate the skills of media persons, a 7-day Refresher-cum-Training Course was today inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Rohit Kansal at Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC), Kashmir University. Dean Academic Affairs, Kashmir University, Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Wani, Director EMMRC, Dr. Shahid Rasool and Joint Director Information Kashmir, Mr. Shafqat Iqbal and other staff members of EMMRC were present on the inaugural function.
The Refresher-cum-Training course has been organized by Department of Information and Public Relations with the support of EMMRC, University of Kashmir in which the necessary training in cohesion with modern technological trends shall be imparted to the Information Officers and Camera persons of Information Department besides media journalists. The course is aimed at to sharpen the journalism approach and skills among the participants so that they deliver their best talent in approaching to the masses by highlighting the developmental and welfare programmes of Government.
Speaking on the occasion, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Mr. Rohit Kansal highlighted the role of media in present world and said that public enlightenment is the prototype of justice and the foundation of democracy. He said the duty of the journalists is to bring the facts and burning issues before the public by seeking truth and providing a fair and comprehensive account of events and issues. He said conscientious journalists from all media and specialties strive to serve the public with thoroughness and honesty. Professional integrity is the cornerstone of a journalist's credibility, he added.
Dean Academic Affairs, Kashmir University, Prof. Mohammad Ashraf Wani, also highlighted the role of media in disseminating the timely and accurate information to the people for their up-to-date Knowledge. Director EMMRC, Dr. Shahid Rasool, in his welcome address, highlighted the role of EMMRC and urged for Interaction between academia and live world by involving Government organizations in the academia. He said such training courses create synergy between academic and journalists to yield the better public relations. He also emphasized for adaptation of modern technology in the journalism to keep the people updated with timely information.
Joint Director Information, Mr. Shafqat Iqbal said that Information Department represents the State and has great responsibility high credibility in the news updating. He said media plays major role in the democratic set up and the media persons should play their responsibility for formation of healthy and up to date society by carrying developmental, flagship programmes and awareness news items among the people in real time maintaining, truth and accuracy.
BARAMULLA: The District Level Screening-cum-Consultative Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of District Magistrate, Baramulla Mr. Talat Parvaiz here today. The Committee has sanctioned Rs.13 lakh in favour of 13 militancy related victims as ex-gratia relief and Rs.48 lakh to 12 next of kins of the deceased persons as cash compensation against SRO-43. Meanwhile, order of appointment of 7 persons have also been sanctioned, besides Rs. 75,000/- was sanctioned in favour of injured persons in the meeting.
The Committee took up several cases, out of which 33 cases were settled on-the-spot, while as other cases were referred to concerned agencies for re-verification of reports. Assistant Commissioner Revenue and other officers of various Security agencies also attended the meeting.
ANANTNAG: Special attention is required in the Agriculture and Horticulture sectors, which is the back-bone of the economy in the district. The district has a yearly income of Rs. 500 crores from Horticulture sector only. This was stated by District Development Commissioner Anantnag, Mr. Tasaduq Jeelani at a meeting held today to review the achievements made under these sectors.
The meeting was attended by Joint Director and Chief Planning Officer Anantnag, District Agriculture Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Horticulture Development Officers and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers of Dooru, Shangus and Pahalgam.
The Chief Horticulture Officer Anantnag informed the meeting about the achievements made under the sector and said that against an outlay of Rs. 6.40 lakhs for the year 2014-15 under District Plan, an expenditure of Rs. 3.20 lakhs has been made in full against the released amount of Rs. 3.20 lakhs on Farm mechanization.
Under Centrally Sponsored Scheme of MIDH, an amount of Rs. 1.01 crore was made available which was expended in full on plantation, pack houses, regulation of old and snail orchards, creation of water sources and tour of farmers. As many as 2 farmer groups were sent on tour outside the State, 50 tour programmes were conducted in the State and 3 departmental Nurseries were covered under the MIDH scheme also.
While giving the details of the achievements under Agriculture sector, the District Agriculture Officer informed that under District sector against the allocation of Rs. 6.57 lakhs and released amount of Rs.3.37 lakhs has been booked in full on distribution of PP. Machinery on 50 percent subsidy maximum upto Rs. 10,000/- per unit for 8 cases, blast control measures, mushroom development, farmers training camps, distribution of kits among Bee keepers on 50 percent subsidy were provided.
In addition, for construction of R. Walls under soil conservation, Rs. 0.97 lakhs out of the released amount of Rs. 1.12 lakhs in 10 cases. Under National Mission on oil seeds and oil palm, a centrally sponsored scheme, Rs. 72,000/- was spent on the training of 3 batches of 30 farmers for two days and Rs.20,000/- was spent on 50 percent cost limited to Rs. 10,000/- for small, marginal, ST, SC, form women, FPO etc. for 2 cases.
Under RKVY, 6 power tillers on 50 % subsidy cost maximum to Rs.0.75 lakhs per unit were booked for 6 beneficiaries, 40 IP sets for the maximum subsidy for Rs. 0.10 lakhs per unit for 40 beneficiaries stand booked. An allocation of Rs. 22.12 lakhs has been made available under RKVY for district Anantnag and the subsidy cost for purchase of machinery has been booked and the machinery will be made available to the farmers by end of fiscal.
The District Development Commissioner asked the officers to prepare projects in consultation with experts under Agriculture and Horticulture sectors for the karevas of Khirm, Shangus, Pahalgam, Dooru and Kokernag belts.
BUDGAM: The District Development Commissioner Budgam, Mr. Mir Altaf Ahmad convened a meeting of officers of Revenue department here today and reviewed the measures taken for rehabilitation of flood victims of Budgam district. The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sub Divisional Magistrates of Khansahib, Beerwah, Chadoora and all Tehsildars of the district.
It was disclosed that 857 houses were fully damaged while as 3406 houses severely damaged and 9661 houses were partially damaged due to floods, besides 2530 structures were completely damaged which include 24 Kacha houses and 2052 cow sheds.
It was also revealed in the meeting that an amount of Rs. 14.87 crores were provided to the flood victims in the district and an amount of Rs. 65.88 lakh were provided as rent charges among the flood victims in the district. The District Development Commissioner stressed upon the concerned officers to speed up the disposal of the cases so that flood sufferers get instant help.
PULWAMA: A workshop was organized by Institute of Management Public Administration and Rural Development Pulwama at Administrative Complex Pulwama here today. The workshop was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Pulwama Mr. Niraj Kumar. He said the aim of the Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) is to bring one village on the map of Model Village.
Joint Director IMPA, Prof. S.N. Alam said that Newa Village of Pulwama district has been identified for developing as a Model Village. He said that all the Modern facilities like potable drinking water, lanes, drains, road connectivity, play field, public library, street lights, community hall, sanitation and other basic facilities to be provided under the said scheme.
BANDIPORA: An amount of Rs. 75 lakh is being spent under various centrally sponsored schemes of Agriculture Sector in district Bandipora during the current financial year. As many as 62 poly green houses, 07 vermi composite units besides 100 no. of agriculture tool kits with an assistance of Rs. 9.50 lakhs are being provided to the farmers for the development of vegetables in the district.
This was informed by the Chief Agriculture Officer, Bandipora, Abdul Qayoom Shah during a meeting here today. He said that 26 irrigation pump sets, 08 tube wells and 07 water harvesting structures at assistance of Rs. 12.50 lakh have been developed whileas under Apiculture sector, 250 Bee Colonies with Bee hives at a cost of Rs. 4 lakh are being distributed among the beneficiaries. 30 hectares of land has been brought under demonstration programme of oil seed, he added.
The Chief Agriculture Officer informed that 125 manually driven handcarts and 15 motorized vending carts with an assistance of Rs. 11.25 lakh were provided for carriage of farm produce and its dispatch to the market. In addition, Rs. 18 lakh are being incurred on National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture (NMSA) under which water harvesting structures and sustainable agriculture based different systems shall be established.
As many as 1000 Bee Colonies are shortly been distributed among the affected families of Kishan Ganga Hydroelectric Project under CSR Plan of NHPC. A subsidy component of Rs. 20 lakh is being given under the said plan, besides bringing 20 hectares of land under vegetable development in the area spending an amount of Rs. 24 lakh, the Chief Agriculture Officer said.
KULGAM: For smooth conduct of upcoming State Board of School Education examination, District Magistrate, Kulgam has ordered imposition of Section 144 Cr. P.C around a radius of 100 meters of all the Examination Centres in the district. This order shall remain in force till the examinations are over.
As such, no any person except the examiners as well as supervisory staff, assembly of more than 5 persons in the immediate vicinity of exam centres and the deployed security force personnel, would be allowed to enter within 100 meter radius of the examination centres. He enjoined upon principals of Higher Secondary Schools to play a pivotal role in order to check the menace of copying and involve civil society including parents in the process.
Among others, Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Chief Education Officer, Assistant Director, JKBOSE, Zonal Education Officers and Principals of Higher Secondary Institutions participated in the meeting.
GANDERBAL: During the month of January-2015 the market checking teams, constituted by Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Mr. Sarmad Hafeez, conducted market checking in various markets of the district Ganderbal and Collected fine of Rs.24750/= (rupees twenty four thousand seven hundred and fifty only) for overcharging of essential commodities and also destroyed rotten vegetables and seized three thousand polythene bags in the District.
REASI: District Information Centre, Reasi in collaboration with District Employment and Counselling centre organized a debate-cum-career counselling program at Jawahar Navodhaya Vidhalaya. Assistant Director, Employment Sulakshana Thakur, DIO-Parvinder Kour, Principal Dharam Chand, Sukhvinder Singh, staff and large number of students were present on the occasion.
The debate was organized on the topic "Environmental Awareness” with an aim to create mass awareness among students as well as public at large about environmental problems and to take measures for environment protection by active involvement of Students, rural masses and general public.
Students spoke on the topics like global warming, natural calamities, dwindling of greeneries and drying of the natural sources of water and stressed for addressing these issues in a focused manner.
An education awareness seminar was also held, followed by one-to-one counselling by the experts from employment department. The students expressed their joy by saying that it was for the first time that they were getting such counselling. Prizes were also distributed among winners of the debate competition by Information Department. The Principal of the school thanked Information and Employment Departments for organizing the programme.
RAMBAN: Senior Superintendent of Police Ramban, Randeep Kumar today convened a meeting with Civil Officers of different department in his office chamber. Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Tahir Firdous, Additional Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta, Chief Planning Officer Parshotam Kumar, CMO Ramban, XEN PDD, XEN PWD and officers of different departments attended the meeting.
Various issues related with the general public raised during the recent PCPG meetings were discussed at length in the meeting. AE(C) 52 RCC Beacon was instructed to repair the potholes as well as the damaged road from Ramban to Banihal on priority basis as the stretch is accident prone and needs immediate attention.
To fulfil guidelines of the Government of India with regard to Juvenile homes, it was decided that the ACR would identify some suitable places for Juvenile Home, Nari Niketan and an Orphanage home. District civil officers were informed about the various Civic Action Programmes to be organised by the District Police. Recently a Painting competition was also organised at Dak Bunglow. CMO Ramban briefed about the preparation to treat Swine flu victims. A number of other issues were also discussed in brief and all officers present in the meeting assured to extend all possible co-operation.
JAMMU: On the directions of Director Handicrafts the enforcement wing of quality control division under the supervision of Deputy Director Quality Control conducted an on-the-spot inspection of Handicrafts establishments at Jammu. During the inspection, some dealers were found indulging with unlawful activities and the officers imposed a fine to the tune of Rs. 10,800 on-the-spot on them. The dealers were also warned not to indulge in such type of practices in future otherwise stern action will be taken against them under the purview of Tourist Trade Act-1978 (82).
