JAMMU: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Ansuya Jamwal, today chaired a meeting to review the preparedness for the smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram in the district. The main day of observance falls on June 26, 2026.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner reviewed the arrangements pertaining to sanitation, functioning of street lights, water supply, deployment of water tankers, availability of health teams and other essential facilities. She issued necessary directions to the officers concerned for ensuring that all requisite arrangements are completed well in time. She also reviewed the police and security arrangements with the police officers.
Among those present were the Assistant Commissioner (General), Jammu, Sania Haq Khan; District Health Officer, Jammu, Dr Sophia Jan; Deputy Director, Information (PR), Jammu, Moksha Dogra; Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters), Farha Nishat; Deputy Superintendent of Police (Traffic), City Jammu, Ashwani Sharma; and officers from other line departments and the Jammu Municipal Corporation. Representatives of religious bodies were also present.
The representatives of religious bodies shared their requirements and highlighted general issues that need to be addressed prior to the observance to facilitate smooth conduct of processions and related activities.
