JAMMU: Prof. Rajni Kant, Professor of Physics at the University of Jammu and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (London), UK, has been conferred the Distinguished Researcher Award by the international agency Scientific Laurels.

Scientific Laurels is administered by Peritus Hive Research and Innovations, registered under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Government of India. The award serves as a recognition of researchers who have made significant contributions in the fields of science and technology.

The selection process adopted by Scientific Laurels follows a structured, multi-layered and strictly merit-based evaluation system designed to ensure fairness in assessing professional excellence, societal impact and ethical contribution. The process comprised preliminary screening, technical and peer review by subject specialists, followed by a final evaluation by the central review panel.

The award has been conferred upon Prof. Rajni Kant in recognition of his scientific accomplishments and outstanding contribution in the field of Small Molecule Research in X-ray Crystallography, which falls under the broader ambit of Condensed Matter Physics.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. Umesh Rai,  congratulated Prof. Rajni Kant on the prestigious recognition and for bringing laurels to the University. He lauded Prof. Rajni Kant’s contributions to the University of Jammu in academics as well as in the corporate life of the institution.

Prof. Rajni Kant has guided 84 Ph.D. and M.Phil. scholars and has published more than 500 research papers in reputed international journals in the field of X-ray Crystallography. He has successfully executed 18 research projects sanctioned by major national funding agencies supporting scientific and technological research.

A distinguished researcher, Prof. Rajni Kant has presented his work in over 100 national seminars and 17 international scientific meetings held in countries including the USA, UK, Japan, New Zealand, Spain, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Hungary. In 2019, he was selected by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) as a LEAP-2.0 Fellow for academic interaction with faculty members at Cambridge University, UK.

With 37 years of teaching experience and over 40 years of research experience, Prof. Rajni Kant has made notable contributions to higher education and scientific research. He has also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Rabindranath Tagore University, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

The Distinguished Researcher Award marks another milestone in his illustrious academic and research career, symbolising dedication, innovation and global impact in the advancement of science.
