SOPORE: In a significant development in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking, the Hon’ble Court of Munsiff/Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Dangiwacha has convicted an accused in an NDPS case registered at Police Station Dangiwacha.
The convicted accused has been identified as Kamar Abbas, son of Mohammad Ali, resident of Kunfer, Chanderkote, Ramban. The case was registered after contraband was recovered from the possession of the accused. Following investigation by Police Station Dangiwacha, the challan was presented before the Hon’ble Court. The case culminated in conviction of the accused by the Hon’ble Court under Section 8/15 of the NDPS Act, with a sentence of 02 months’ rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of ₹5,000.
The conviction reflects the sustained efforts of Jammu & Kashmir Police in ensuring effective investigation and prosecution of narcotics-related offences under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan. Police reiterates its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse. Strict legal action shall continue against all those involved in narcotics-related activities, while efforts to build a drug-free society will be pursued with equal determination.
