- Reviews Muharram-ul-Haram Arrangements
BUDGAM: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, today visited Imambara Budgam to review the arrangements being put in place for the smooth observance of the ensuing holy month of Muharram-ul-Haram. During the visit, the DC reviewed the facilities available at the Imambara and interacted with local residents, and members of the management committee to assess their requirements and concerns ahead of Muharram.
On the occasion, local representatives informed the DC that the major Muharram congregations commence from the 4th Muharram, while the main Aashora procession is scheduled to be taken out on the 10th Muharram from Babul Ilm Mirgund to Imambada Budgam.
The representatives highlighted several demands and issues, including repair and restoration of damaged road stretches, ensuring uninterrupted power supply with adequate backup arrangements, augmentation of potable water supply, strengthening of medical facilities, sanitation measures, traffic regulation to facilitate devotees and visitors during the religious gatherings.
The DC directed the concerned departments to take all necessary measures to ensure seamless arrangements during Muharram-ul-Haram. He instructed the R&B Department to examine and address the damaged road stretches on priority and emphasized the need for a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure the convenience of mourners.
The DC further directed the Power Development Department (PDD) to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, adequate backup arrangements during religious gatherings and installation on street lights wherever required.
Jal Shakti Department was instructed to maintain regular and sufficient water supply throughout the Muharram days, while the Health Department was directed to ensure the availability of medical teams, ambulances, and essential healthcare facilities during major congregations. The DC stressed the importance of close coordination among all line departments and directed officers to complete all necessary arrangements well in advance.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the District Administration has already initiated advance preparations for the smooth and peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across the district. He informed that necessary directions have been issued to all concerned departments to ensure adequate arrangements and essential facilities for mourners, including uninterrupted power and water supply, healthcare services, sanitation, traffic management, and other public utilities.
The DC Said that the District administration is committed towards facilitating the religious observances in a seamless manner and called upon all departments to work in close coordination to address public requirements promptly.
Among others, Joint Director Planning Budgam, Javaid Ahmad Najar; Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), CAHO Budgam, Executive Engineers of R&B, Jal Shakti and PDD; Tehsildar Budgam, BDO Budgam, CEO MC Budgam, representatives of the officers from various concerned departments were present during the visit.
