JAMMU: As part of the celebrations marking 90 years of Akashvani’s dedicated service to the Nation, Akashvani Jammu today organised a Walkathon in which staff members and outsourced manpower participated enthusiastically.

The Walkathon commenced from the premises of Akashvani Jammu and proceeded to the historic Mubarak Mandi Palace, one of Jammu’s prominent heritage landmarks, before returning to the station premises. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from employees, reflecting their commitment to the values and legacy of Akashvani.

Speaking on the occasion, J. Ravikantha Babu, Deputy Director General (Engineering), highlighted the significant role played by Akashvani in serving the nation over the past nine decades. He said that Akashvani has remained a trusted medium of communication, information, education and entertainment, reaching millions of listeners across the country.

He observed that Akashvani continues to serve all sections of society by broadcasting a wide range of programmes in diverse formats and languages, catering to the informational, cultural, educational and developmental needs of the people. He emphasized that the organisation has consistently upheld its commitment to public service broadcasting and remains an important pillar of the country’s media landscape.

Shri Babu also expressed his gratitude to the District Administration and the Police Department for their valuable support and cooperation in ensuring the smooth and successful conduct of the Walkathon.

The event formed part of a series of activities being organised by Akashvani Jammu to commemorate the organisation’s remarkable journey of 90 years in public service broadcasting.
