JAMMU: District Legal Services Authority(DLSA) Jammu organized a Special Lok Adalat on Contentious cases today under the guidance of  R. N. Watal, Chairman DLSA/Principal District & Sessions Judge, Jammu and overall supervision of Maleeka Sharma, Civil Judge Sr. Division/ Secretary DLSA, Jammu.

A large number of litigants turned up to participate in the Lok Adalat, availing the opportunity to settle their disputes amicably. A wide range of cases, including civil disputes, bank recovery, compoundable criminal cases, MACT claims, matrimonial issues, revenue cases and others, were taken up for consideration and settlement.

 A total of 26 benches, comprising Judicial Officers and Panel Lawyers/LADCs of DLSA Jammu were constituted to handle these cases. Special Lok Adalat witnessed the successful resolution of numerous disputes, underscoring the effectiveness of Lok Adalat in promoting speedy justice and alleviating the burden on the judicial system. A total 249 cases pertaining to different nature were taken up, out of which 120 cases were settled. The total Amount recovered stands at Rs. 14483466.9/-.
