UDHAMPUR: In Compliance to the directions of Jammu & Kashmir Legal Services Authority, a Special Lok Adalat for Contentious Cases was held today in the District Udhampur. The Lok Adalat was held under the Chairmanship of Kalpana Revo (Pr. District & Sessions Judge /Chairman DLSA) and under the overall Supervision of Sumati Sharma, Secretary/Sub-Judge, District Legal Services Authority.
In all 7 Benches were constituted in the District to facilitate amicable, consensual settlements of suitable pending cases through mediation-based mechanisms, thereby reducing case pendency and providing speedy, cost-effective justice. A total 71 cases were taken up, of which 21 cases were settled with a settlement amount of Rs. 22,05,500/-.
