SHOPIAN: As part of the ongoing 100 Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA), various awareness, preventive, and enforcement activities were carried out across Shopian district by different departments to strengthen the fight against drug abuse and promote a healthy and addiction-free society.

A Yoga and Wellness Session was organized at Government Middle School Kaprin by the Department of AYUSH Shopian. The programme was conducted in which around 95 students and staff members actively participated in the session, which highlighted the importance of physical fitness, mental well-being, and a healthy lifestyle as essential tools in preventing substance abuse.

Meanwhile, Government Degree College Zainapora organized a series of activities under the campaign, including community interaction programmes, awareness pamphlet distribution, door-to-door awareness drives, public pledge campaigns, anti-drug awareness programmes, market inspections, and sports-based activities aimed at encouraging positive youth engagement and community participation.

In another significant initiative, the Excise Department Shopian, in collaboration with Shopian Police, Revenue Department, Agriculture Department, and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), conducted a joint drive against illicit poppy cultivation in village Zampathri of Tehsil Keller.

During the operation, action was taken against illegal cultivation and an FIR was registered against the accused under relevant provisions of law. Investigation into the matter has been initiated. These activities reflect the collective commitment of government departments, educational institutions, law enforcement agencies, and local communities towards achieving the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan.
