RAJOURI: Acting on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma, District Mineral Officer (DMO) Mohammad Sayeed, conducted a drive against illegal mining in the district today.

During the operation, three vehicles involved in the illegal transportation of minor minerals were impounded, and a penalty of â‚č60,000 was recovered from the perpetrators. Additionally, stringent action was taken against a crusher unit and a leaseholder found violating mining regulations. Penalty notices amounting to â‚č21 lakh were issued to the crusher unit, while a penalty of â‚č5 lakh was imposed on the leaseholder.

The district administration has reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal mining and ensuring strict enforcement of mining regulations. Further such drives will continue to prevent environmental degradation and unauthorized extraction of minerals.
