SAMBA: To mark the global observance of World Water Day, the Jal Shakti Department Samba today conducted a series of awareness camps aimed at educating the public about the importance of water conservation. The event was held at different locations across the district and was attended by local residents and government officials.
World Water Day, celebrated every year on March 22, is a day designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about the critical importance of freshwater and advocate for the sustainable management of water resources. The theme for World Water Day 2025 is "Accelerating Change," which focuses on the urgent need to address water challenges and achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal 6, ensuring access to water and sanitation for all by 2030.
The awareness camps organized by the Jal Shakti Department featured interactive discussions, and information-sharing activities on the need for efficient water management, the impact of water scarcity, and practical steps that can be taken to conserve water. In a symbolic gesture to demonstrate their commitment to water conservation, all participants took a pledge to minimize water wastage in their daily lives and encourage others to do the same.
As World Water Day 2025 comes to a close, the Jal Shakti Department remains committed to playing an active role in safeguarding water resources for future generations, while promoting the essential message that "Every Drop Counts."
