JAMMU: Shaheed divas of Sardar Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and Sukhdev ji was observed by Management Committee of Rehan Basera (Shelter Home for Urban Homeless) in the premises of Shelter Home at Boria Basti, Gorkha Nagar, Bahu Fort Jammu. Sh. B.L. Aswal, Chief engineer NHPC JKUT was chief guest on this occasion.
While speaking on this occasion Sh. B.L Aswal, Chief engineer NHPC said that our youths should work for unity and intergrity of country. They should honour freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the country. Bhagat Singh was an Indian anti-colonial revolutionary freedom fighter who was hanged to death alongwith Rajguru and Sukhdev by British colonizers at the age of 23 years. Fondly known as Shaheed (Martyr) Bhagat Singh.
They are considered as National heros. After studying in village school for a couple of years, he attended an Anglo-Vedic school in Lahor operated by Arya samaj Bhagat was 2nd son of Sardar Kishan Singh and Vidya vati. His grandfather Arjan Singh, father Kishan Singh and uncle Ajit Singh and uncle Swarn Singh were actively involved in the Indian independence movement.
Shamlal Basson Ex-corporater and member management committee Rehan Basera said that this committee always observe birth and death anniversary of freedom fighters, Mahapursha, Educationists Sh. Shiv Ram Hari Rajguru foundly known as Rajguru was born 24th August 1908 in Maharashtra and Sukhdev Thapar was born on 15th May 1907 at Ludhiana in Punjab. Sh. Subash Gupta retd Judge spoke on this occasion. He particularly said that country became slaved for about 1000 years. We must known cost of freedom. Lacks of freedom fighters has lost their lives for the sake of Country.
Madam Veena Bakshi manager Rehan Basera extended vote of thanks. She thanked all those participants who help the inmates of Rehan Basera in one way or the other.
Smt Mitali Madam, Madam Uma Bhakhri, Viram Singh, Sanjay Parihar, Om Parkash, Sh. S.K Jain, Ajay Bhagat, Gulzar ahmed, also spoke on this occasion, Madam Mitali and her mother Prof. Laxmi ji always help the inmates of Rehan Basera.
While in jail during trial, singh helped organize hunger strike to protest the ill treatment of prisioners Those who attend function and paid tributes to Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev included, Madam Rita Shrama , Veena Kumari, Bhawna, Rajni Devi, Aditya Dutta, Meenakshi Devi, Vijay Kumar.
