ANANTNAG: In connection with World Tuberculosis Day, the ADC Anantnag flagged off a rally of students from various Nursing Training Schools and educational institutions for awaring the common people about preventive measures for TB Control. The students were carrying banners and ply boards and went from street to street and other parts of the District. A seminar was also organized at District TB Hospital Anantnag in which the Doctors and experts from WHO awared the audience about the preventive measures.
The District TB Officer Anantnag highlighted the performance of RNTCP in Anantnag /Kulgam during the year 2014. He also informed that 16 treatment units under TB are functional in Anantnag and Kulgam Districts and 286 Dot centers have been established in the twin Districts. The rate of TB patients has reduced yearly which was 1010 in 2012,787 in2013 and 720 in 2014-15 due to the collective efforts of the department. 378 cases of TB were detected against sputum examination of 10286 cases during the current year. MRD status of 28 patients has been registered during the same period also. A debate of school children was also held in which TB control activities were discussed. The best debaters were awarded with prizes and appreciation.
