JAMMU: An awareness program under ‘Swatch Bharat Mission’ is organized here at Panchayat Jandrah under the overall supervision of Anil Sharma, Sarpanch in coordination with Rural Development Department. A good  number of people attended the program and appreciated the RDD and the panchayat for organizing the event.  The participants were given brief introduction of the scheme under the mission in which financial assistance is being provided to the BPL category families for construction of toilets in the rural areas.

 During the program while interacting with the participants, the Sarpanch Anil Sharma impressed upon the inhabitants about the importance of sanitation and hygiene and he also appealed the people to save every drop of water, which is the most essential gift of nature.  The Block Development officer, representing the Rural Development department in his speech said citizens’ participation is essential to achieve the target of Swatch Bharat Mission, the educated youth were urged to come forward and carry forward the message and importance of cleanliness. 

Later, the participants also pledged (as a volunteer Oath) to remain vigilant and keep their homes, ponds, water bodies neat and clean. Gram Sevaks, Panchayat Secretaries belonging to nearby Panchayats along with Sarpanch of Nagola  also remained present during the event.
