- "PM Modi's Commitment hailed"
JAMMU: "Today marks a historic milestone as the first set of citizenship certificates under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) have been issued, granting Indian nationality to 14 persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. This significant event, nearly two months after the rules under the contentious law were notified, signifies the unwavering commitment of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Government in delivering justice to those who had faced religious persecution ".
This was stated by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member Raman Suri who, while terming the move as historic, said that the decades-long wait of individuals, who had fled due to religious persecution in their respective countries, has finally ended. Now that the fourteen deserving individuals, showcasing the government's dedication to streamlining the citizenship process, have been issued CAA certificates, more such persecuted Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Parsis, and Christians will get their due in days to come.
Raman Suri appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his steadfast resolve to uphold the rights of persecuted Hindus and other religious minorities in the three countries. The issuance of these citizenship certificates, he added, exemplifies BJP's commitment of translating promises into actions, demonstrating that the BJP indeed walks the talk. Emphasizing that the Modi Government stands firm in its commitment of granting citizenship to all eligible refugees through the CAA, Suri said that the move reaffirms the government's dedication of providing justice and rights to those who have suffered for decades.
The Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024, outline the procedure for processing applications, ensuring a fair and transparent mechanism. The BJP leader commended the diligent efforts of the District Level Committees (DLCs) and the State Level Empowered Committee in processing the applications and granting citizenship to the deserving individuals.
Raman Suri said the enactment of the CAA had sparked protests, but it was imperative to recognize that it aimed at helping the refugees who had faced persecution on religious grounds. He added that the opposition had made several attempts to mislead the public on this crucial issue but steadfast BJP government implemented the law in its letter and spirit, which will settle the refugees and make them permanent citizens of India, enabling them to enjoy all the rights as a citizen. He added the issuance of citizenship certificates is a testament to the BJP government's unwavering dedication of ensuring justice and equality for all.
