SAMBA: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Samba Rajesh Sharma today flagged off an awareness van from the District Office Complex, Samba, marking the launch of the Sparsh Leprosy Awareness Campaign. The initiative is being carried out under the overall supervision of Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Vidhi Bhatial.
The campaign will be observed across all health institutions in District Samba from January 30 to February 13, 2025, under the theme "Fortnight IEC Activities. It aims to educate the public about the signs and symptoms of leprosy, its prevention, early diagnosis, and the availability of free treatment in government health institutions. The campaign also emphasizes the need to eliminate stigma and discrimination against individuals affected by leprosy.
The launch event was attended by DHO Samba, District Nodal Officer (RBSK), Nodal Officer (School Health Programme), officials from the CMO/Dy. CMO office Samba, and other dignitaries.
